The pikorua represents two entwined fern shoots, and signifies the eternal love or friendship between two people, families, countries or cultures. The shape has no beginning or end, and symbolises that the twists and turns of life can affect us, but that we still end up back together. The design epitomises the strength and beauty of enduring relationships.
And the trophy is a beautiful piece of work. Made from gaboon veneer and medium density fibreboard, the pikorua trophy incorporates fine detailing, as well as embellishments in paua shell and mother of pearl. The total effect is stunning.
