What type of feathers do you use?

We use natural and dyed chicken and rooster feathers. Sorry, we cannot use your own feathers.
Can I design my own korowai?

Yes we can get your design made up using the feather and taniko colours available. You can view details here:

Will there be any problems taking a korowai overseas?

If we are shipping overseas, we will ship with a fumigation certificate. In all our decades of shipping korowai, we have not had a problem shipping overseas. If we ship within NZ but then you take it overseas, get in touch and we will email you the fumigation certificate.
How do I store my korowai?

We will send you information on how to store your purchase, but in brief, wrap it in acid-free tissue paper, and lay it in a cardboard or wooden box. Do not store it in plastic, and do not store it hanging in a garment bag.
Can I wear a Korowai if I am not Māori?

The short answer is Yes. It should have been gifted to you, and Māori believe the korowai is imbued with the respect that it was given in, so it should be treated with great respect too. Make sure you know its whakapapa (history), and wear it with great pride.
