This Ngapuhi Newborn Maori Baby Korowai is the perfect gift for the new Ngapuhi baby (pepi). Gift it to your own baby, or your mokopuna.
A korowai is the perfect gift for the new baby. Use it for a very special photo. Later you can hang it on the wall - it would look beautiful in a glass fronted box.
The correct Maori name for it is kahu huruhuru, but many people, including Maori, still call it a korowai.
The korowai is machine sewn by a Maori lady from Auckland, New Zealand, to make it affordable for all. It measures approximately 37cm x 39cm (14 1/2" x 15 1/4").
The taniko is red, white and black, and the feathers are white, then black. The black feathers have a sheen like that of a Tui bird.
There is also the option of getting the korowai in a deluxe black gift box - perfect if this is a presentation piece.

I was disappointed with the $30 gift box. It was too small. You had to bend it to fit and now the feathers are bent and I have to find a bigger gift box now
