This NZ Greenstone Māori Toki Necklace is made from Kawakawa pounamu, notable for its dark green with speckles of creamy white.
The fabulous Genuine Greenstone Māori Adze ( Toki - pronounced "talky") Necklace is a great example of carving and binding. Not to mention being a handsome piece of jewellery!
Māori designs all come with a spiritual meaning, and in the case of the Toki the meaning is one of strength, control, determination and focus, everything one needs when one is carving. Nice and light weight. String is skinny and waxed. Partner loves this, though he is not a necklace/jewellery wearing type. I love my heart taonga, though my string where you can adjust it making it bigger or smaller broke and the twisted bit close to heart is now a knot. I purchased these in recognition of Te Whanga nui a tara regionals, NPYMC. First time supporters and first pounamu taonga we own. Love them. And the delivery and communication was super fast. We purchased 2 taonga which we love and appreciate. The string is a bit thin and could be better sold with stronger lashing. We almost dropped our taonga with the string slipping out. other than that, they are precious xox
