Merino Possumsilk Beanie Hat Merino Possumsilk Beanie Hat

This simple but oh so warm Plain Knit Merino Possumsilk Beanie Hat is part of the fabulous McDonald New Zealand Merino Possum Collection.

Merino Possumsilk is a fabulous fibre from New Zealand. It is created from a blend of 55% ultra fine merino lambswool, 35% luxurious possum fur, and 10% Mulberry silk. Ultrafine Merino wool is very warm and soft, and not itchy. Possum fur is warmer than wool due to the hollow core of the fur, trapping air inside the fibre. Silk is smooth and warm. The mix gives strength, softness and incredible warmth.

This knit Merino Possumsilk Beanie Hat is ideal for people who really feel the cold. Put one on, take it off a minute later, and feel the warmth that it has trapped inside the beanie. It's amazing!

The Merino Possumsilk Beanie is available in one size fits all, and the following colours:

Pewter

Black

Lime

Ebony

Charcoal

Heather

Red

Mocha

Berry

Teal

Mint

Keep yourself warm this winter, and revel in the knowledge you are wearing a luxury garment from clean 'n green New Zealand. Possum Merino is an ecologically conscious choice - wearing these gloves allows you to contribute towards a sustainable future for New Zealand's flora and fauna.

The Australian Brushtail Possum was introduced into New Zealand in the 1800s, with disastrous results. Throughout our country, an estimated population of 80 million possums destroys 22000 tonnes of our indigenous flora every night, not to mention all the native birds that it kills each night, including our endangered iconic kiwi bird. With no natural predators, there is no way to naturally control the species, hence the need to control numbers by hunting and trapping.
