This Carved Wooden Māori Patu is an example of the traditional Māori artefact, used mostly in pre-European times. It is perfect as a special gift, or souvenir of New Zealand.
The patu was traditionally made out of wood or stone, and if made from greenstone was more commonly called a mere.
This patu is made from a sustainably sourced hardwood called Tulip Wood, which is strong but lightweight. It measures approximately 32cm (12 1/2") long.
The patu has a rope cord, for it to be hung from the wrist, surface carving, and paua shell eyes as part of the wheku (face) carving design.
Proudly made in Rotorua, New Zealand, and shipped worldwide.
Options: Purchase the patu only, or purchase it nestled in a deluxe black gift box if you want to present it as a gift. Alternatively, if you need a gift bag, there is a flax bag perfect to put it in.
