Paua is New Zealand's native abalone shell, with beautiful irridescent shades of blue, green, pink and purple. No two pieces of shell are the same.
The Maori Koru design represents an unfurling new fern shoot, and spiritually it signifies peace, tranquility, new beginnings and positive change. So you can give it just because it is pretty, or because of its spiritual significance.
The Paua Koru measures approximately 2cm (3/4") in diameter, and hangs from a silver chain. The paua shell is attached to an acrylic backing, then encased in clear resin to provide durability. As no two pieces of paua shell are the same, no two necklaces will be the same either. Which is wonderful - each one is unique!
