This Maori Bone Manaia Breastplate Necklace is approximately 10cm (4") wide, so is a quite distinctive piece to wear.

The manaia has paua shell eyes and a heavily carved body.

The manaia is the Maori spiritual guardian, a provider and protector over land, sea and air.  It is believed to ward off evil spirits.
