Paua and Mother of Pearl NZ Silver Fern Keychain

This Paua Shell and Mother of Pearl Silver Fern Keychain is proudly made in New Zealand.

From the keychain hangs a mother of pearl disc inlaid with a paua shell Silver Fern, our national sporting symbol.

Behind the disc is a piece of polished paua shell.

The keychain comes on a card that details some info about the Silver Fern and Paua shell.

There is a Maori legend about the silver fern, a green native fern that has a distinctive silver underside.  The legend states that the silver fern once lived in the sea.  It was asked to come and live in the native forest, to help guide the people at night.  When the fronds are bent over, they catch the moonlight and shine, like a glow in the dark marker.
