This square jewellery box is made from native timber Rimu, and has a Maori love twist symbol on the top.
Rimu has a natural honey colour and strikingly beautiful grain, and has been long favoured for making all sorts of goods, from trinkets to furniture.
The top of the box is decorated with a Rimu Maori Pikorua, accentuated with contrasting Paua shell inlay. The Maori Pikorua design represents two fern shoots growing and twisting together, and spiritually it signifies the enduring nature of true love or friendship, through all the twists and turns of life.
Paua is our native abalone shell, found only in NZ waters. The shell has irridescent shades of blue, green, pink and purple, and no two pieces are the same.
The box has a lift off lid. External dimensions are approximately 8cm x 8cm x 4.3cm. Inside, you can fit a necklace of up to 7cm long diagonally, and up to about 6cm long if you want it to lie squarely.
Ideal for gifting with a treasured greenstone or bone necklace, or to give on its own as a beautiful gift from New Zealand. One of our photos shows a bone manaia necklace (not included) in the box.
