Rimu Round Jewellery Box with Maori Mangopare Tattoo Carving

This jewellery or trinket box is crafted from a solid piece of recycled native NZ Rimu timber, one of New Zealand's most loved native timbers, because of its honey colour and beautiful grain.

The Rimu keepsake box is adorned with a contemporary engraved design of the "Mangopare" (Hammerhead Shark), inspired by the painted rafter patterns (kowhaiwhai) seen in meeting houses throughout Aotearoa.

In Maori culture, the Mangopare stands as a symbol of strength, resilience, and determination, embodying the spirit of leadership and guardianship.
