This beautifully carved Maori Patu has been made from native New Zealand Kauri timber, one of our most beautiful timbers, with a fabulous honey grain.

The patu measures just over 40cm long.  

It is shaped in a traditional patu shape, but the way the top of the patu has been carved is absolutely unique.

The top has been carved in a pattern perfectly matching that of latticed leather.  Even the texture is that of leather!  You will find it truly amazing, to see and to feel.

The patu is finished off with a plaited cord.

This is a one-off piece, carved in Northland, New Zealand.
