41cm Maori Patu (with Optional Stand)

This Maori Patu is slightly larger than the average size Patu, measuring approximately 41cm (16 1/8") in length.

It is carved in Rotorua and made from Tulip Wood, a sustainably harvested lightweight but very strong hardwood with a reddish brown hue.

Patu are a pre-European Maori artefact, usually flat with a rounded blade.

They were either held in the hand, attached to a cord for the hand to go through, or tucked into a woven belt.

The patu is also available on a stand, and the stand can be engraved, perfect for marking a special event.

If you would like engraving, choose up to 5 words, select the engraved option, and enter the words in the box provided.  Please note that engraved items cannot be returned, except in the unlikely event that we get the engraving wrong.  Please allow approximately 3 days for the engraving to be done.  You can choose from an engraved plaque, laser engraving into the wood, or paua engraving into the wood.  Please note: Paua engraving can only be up to 18 characters.
