These Greenstone Shark Tooth Earrings are made from Canadian Greenstone, on Sterling Silver hooks. Canadian greenstone is nephrite jade, just like pounamu. It is used by carvers when they have supply problems getting pounamu.
Maori prized the shark tooth for adornment, in necklaces and earrings. In Maori mythology, the Milky Way was formed from the shark Te Mangoroa.
Each shark tooth measures approximately 3cm (1 1/8") long.
