This Maori Bone Fish Hook Necklace is beautifully carved.
The addition of what I call Paua Shell bubbles is a nice touch to enhance the design and give that further connection to the sea.
The hei matau is made from cow bone, and the bubbles or dots from native New Zealand paua (abalone) shell. Paua has beautiful shades of blue, green, pink and purple, and no two pieces are the same.
The fish hook design has a spiritual meaning, one of peace, prosperity, good health, and safe travel over water. Perfect to give to those into fishing, skiing, boating, surfing, or anyone travelling overseas.
The necklace measures approximately 4.5cm (1 3/4") long, and rests on a long black adjustable cord.
