This Maori Bone Double Manaia Necklace is beautifully carved, with the carving further enhanced with a tea stain.
The Manaia is the Maori spiritual guardian, like a guardian angel, to ward off danger and protect against intruders. It acts as a provider and protector over the sky, earth and sea.
The Manaia has a bird-like head, symbolising flight of the spirit.
This manaia is made from cow bone, and hangs from a long black adjustable cord. The pendant measures approximately 5cm (2") long.
