Shipping from NZ to the EU from 1 November 2026 - What You Need to Know

2 November 2026:
There have been a number of changes in 2026 that affect the shipping of parcels to the EU.  And unfortunately, many EU countries, as well as the postal service, are not prepared.  The end result is a number of countries we can't ship to until these other entities get their proverbial s*** together.

We will "keep you posted", and I am confident everything will sort itself out in due course.  We are just having to "roll with the punches".

What you need to know:

  • As soon as each country gets itself sorted, we will be shipping DDP (Delivered Duty Paid), also called PDDP if shipped with the postal service.
  • Duty and VAT must be paid on all parcels, regardless of their value.
  • If the parcel value is over 150 Euros, the duty and VAT must be paid by the purchaser.
  • Even if you want us to ship a gift you have purchased from ShopNZ to go to someone in the EU, we are only allowed to ship as commercial goods.  If you are in New Zealand, you are actually better off purchasing from us and having the parcel shipped to you, then you take it to the Post Office to ship as a gift.  If shipping as a gift under 45 Euro value, you do not have to pay any VAT or duty.
  • Every line item in the parcel currently also incurs a 2 Euro handling fee, as well as a NZ Post processing fee.
  • Current EU countries we cannot ship to via NZ Post:
Austria, Bulgaria, Croatia, Cyprus, Czechia, Finland, Greece, Hungary, Ireland, Italy, Latvia, Lithuania, Luxembourg, Malta, Poland, Romania and Slovenia.
  • EU countries we CAN ship to via NZ Post:
Belgium, Denmark, Estonia, France, Germany, Netherlands, Portugal, Slovakia, Spain and Sweden.  (We will update this page as new info comes to light).
