I love Maori music, always have, right from when I was a little girl. I'm a Pakeha ( a "white" New Zealander), but I went to school in a neighborhood that was almost all Maori, and Maori culture was very much a part of my school. I learned the pois, stillremember all the songs, and I can probably still do the stick games!
I sing with an informal choir here in Ngunguru, and one of our favorite songs to sing is called E Hara. E Hara is a song about a spiritual belief that everything is handed down to us, from our ancestors, through the passage of time. Including love, land, faithand hope.
