This Maori Bone Roimata Necklace is a tear drop design carved out of cow bone, with beautiful surface carving on the front.
Roimata means "tear drop", and is a stylised version of the toki, in a long slim shape with rounded corners.
The Roimata is a symbol of sadness, so would be given as a gesture of recognition of a person's sadness or loss, and a reassurance that you are there for them and will stand beside them. Sometimes referred to as the comfort stone. Also perfect to wear to remember a special person passed from your life.
This Roimata is further enhanced with beautiful Koru carving on the top. The Koru carries a spiritual meaning too. It represents the unfurling fern shoot, and signifies peace, tranquility, and new beginnings.
This beautifully carved Roimata measures approximately 6.7cm (2 5/8") long, and hangs from a long black adjustable cord.
