We Proudly Support...

Whangarei Native Bird Recovery Centre
State Highway 14, Maunu, Whangarei, New Zealand
Why we support...
For more than 12 years the Whangarei Native Bird Recovery Centre has cared for and treated thousands of injured birds, including New Zealand's iconic Kiwi.
Founders Robert and Robyn Webb, who have 30 years experience working with native birds, manage and run the centre with the help of a small committee of volunteers.

The Centre is a non-profit, registered and incorporated society with charitable status, and receives no government funding, relying solely on donations, grants and sponsorship.
The Native Bird Recovery Centre takes in all injured birds, both native and introduced, and where possible nurses them back to health for release into the wild.  More than 60% of birds brought into the centre are successfully released again.
A special part of the Centre is the Bayer Kiwi egg incubation unit and Kiwi Recovery pens.  This facility is used to incubate Kiwi eggs found in the wild and also as a recovery area for injured kiwi.
The staff are all voluntary workers who give hours of their time because they want to be part of the effort to ensure our remaining native species survive.  Our iconic Kiwi bird is one of several native birds facing possible extinction, due to introduced pests, cats, and dogs.
At we are proud to have the Kiwi in our logo, and we're impressed by the work Robert and his crew are doing to save our local Kiwi birds and other native species.
To do our bit to help, in March 2008 we became a sponsor of the Whangarei Native Bird Recovery Centre.
In addition, whenever you purchase an item from our Save the Kiwi range, we'll donate a portion of the purchase price to the Native Bird Recovery Centre.
In September 2008 we were presented with this lovely certificate to thank us for our support - it is now proudly displayed in the shop.

We have also supported:

Ngunguru School
In 2008 we were one of the main sponsors of the Ngunguru Primary School's Guy Fawkes Night, a school fundraising event and also one of the most popular, iconic events on the Tutukaka Coast.  Food, drink and entertainment at the school, then when the sun goes down, fireworks over the beach.  Magic!

Christmas Box New Zealand
Through the Alive Church in Whangarei, we supported Christmas Box ( ).  Christmas Box delivers hampers of food at Christmastime to the less privileged members of our community, via organisations like Womens Refuge, Barnados, and many others.  All the funds raised in Whangarei goes to Christmas Boxes for Whangarei families.
